BACK TO THE WILD AT
PORT LYMPNE
|
Your day might begin with a visit
to silverback Bitam's family in
our extensive complex.
With over 50 gorilla births to date, Howletts is home to the
world's most successful
breeding colony of captive lowland
gorillas.
You could then stroll along to the elephant paddocks to photograph
our African herd their young. Osh was the first bull calf to be born in the U.K. |

A world of experience awaits. Whether you are interested in
wildlife, historic houses, elegant gardens or magnificent scenery, the Park has something
for everyone. Start the day with a stroll around the historic mansion built by Sir Herbert
Baker for MP Sir Philip Sassoon back in 1915.
Admire the Spencer Roberts mural room with its colorful
depiction of Asian birds and wildlife. Visit the famous Rex Whistler Tent Room. Or simply
take in the sights and scents of the beautiful landscaped terraced gardens.
|

Or perhaps you would prefer to bring your own refreshment and enjoy them in one of our
picnic areas.
 |
Listen to the wolves howl, admire the tigers
or watch our langurs tending to their young before you take a well earned rest at one of
the refreshment kiosks or the Pavilion restaurant.

|
Wildlife lovers can view our gorillas roaming freely in
their two acre outdoor moated enclosure and witness gorilla behavior at its most natural.

Or why not charge along to the rhino paddocks to see the largest breeding herd of black
rhino in the U.K. - including two very special babies born recently at the park. They
really are a rare sight.
You have the option of walking around the Park or hitching a ride on our Safari Shuttle
Service to encounter monkeys, tigers, elephants, lions, wolves, and many other rare and
endangered species.
