accent is very much on the personal attention
given to visitors. We
specialise in single
variety, single vintage white and red wine. |

status. We offer free
tasting
and our wines are available for direct sale. Guided vineyard tours
are also available at a

Little
Farthingloe farm

Little Fartingloe Farm lies in a
scenic valley just west of Dover. Farthingloe is a historic site
that was mentioned
in the
Domesday Book. The 130 acre farm consists of both arable land
and woodland. The buildings
have been
adapted into a range of shops and a tearoom. For the
energetic visitor there are
attractive woodland nature trails
that wind through the farm. The
way marked farm trail
starts at the car park. |
Shamphire

Samphire Hoe is an amazing place,
made from the material dug to create the Channel Tunnel,
with something
for everybody: a
stunning location, wild flowers, birds, sea angling, peace and
quiet, space for kite
flying, picnics,
painting or walks. The site is accessible for all people,
providing
gentle and interesting walks - the further you get
from the car park the more wild the
site becomes. Guided walks and other activities are regularly organised. |

wonderful mosaic pavement that was found after the war.
The new museum
was built as part
of the development here in 1991, it replaced a slightly more
basic display of what had
been found.
The pavement is now behind shiny (not matt) glass and this makes it harder to

Situated in St Margaret's at
Cliff just outside Dover, the South Foreland Lighthouse was once a
guiding light for
mariners using the Straits of Dover. Now no longer in use and opened to the
public by the
National Trust in 1989, it
provides a fascinating insight into the history and working
of lighthouses. |

Leeds Castle, built upon two
islands in a lake, dates from the 9thC and was a favorite home of
medieval queens.
Henry
VIII converted it from a stronghold to a royal palace but the most recent
restoration was

the present collection of art, furniture and tapestries were
assembled.
There is a unique Dog Collar Museum in the gatehouse. The surrounding parkland
has gardens, vineyard, maze, aviaries, duckery and golf course. Many major
events throughout

Walmer

Walmer Castle was one of the
forts Henry VIII built along the south coast that were designed to
defend against the
new
threat of attack by gunpowder. Unlike a medieval castle, it is low and
squat, with hugely
thick walls able to
withstand the mightiest bombardment. Its spherical
bastions held heavy
armament which could be deployed against
an attacking fleet.
